Turning Play Into Purpose — One Season at a Time

At Battle Party LA, we believe unforgettable experiences should do more than entertain — they should create real impact close to home.

That’s why we created The Local Heroes Program, a seasonal community initiative that supports real children and families in our community through our events and our collective generosity.

Each season, we rally together around one Local Hero.
Every Battle Party helps move the mission forward as a portion of all our revenue goes towards assisting these Heroes in need alongside generous donations.

This Season’s Local Hero:

Courageous, kind, and resilient – That’s Memo in a nutshell.

Memo was diagnosed at age 4, just 3 days before Halloween, with Acute Lymphoblastic
Leukemia after the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles (CHLA) team discovered a mass
that had spread across his chest and was lodged between his lungs and heart, making
it difficult for him to lie down and breathe. After starting immediate treatment and
enduring the first month of intensive chemotherapy, Memo temporarily lost his ability to
walk. Fortunately, he went into remission, regained his muscular strength, and has
stayed cancer-free for three full years while continuing treatment.

A PICC line, port, over 20 lumbar punctures, and numerous transfusions later—Memo is
months away from ‘ringing the bell.’ It’s a moment when every patient finishes their
cancer treatment and rings the bell, signaling to everyone on the Oncology floor at
CHLA that their journey is complete. A new chapter will begin.
Through all the darkness, Memo, now nearly 8 years old, has remained courageous,
kind, and resilient—making friends at every opportunity, loving the world of baking yet
wanting to be ‘everything’ when he grows up, all while rocking out on his skateboard.
Loved by his parents and championed by his older brother, the future looks bright for

Memo and hopefully includes a lifetime free of cancer.

Thank You

To every family, school, and organization that chooses Battle Party LA — thank you for helping turn play into purpose.
